Graduate Biomedical Engineering Society (GBMES)
The mission of the GBMES is to promote bonding between BME graduate students, to provide academic and student-life resources to its members, and to build a positive relationship between students, faculty, and industry.  GBMES strives to be both a social and a professional liaison for its members.  It sponsors social activities throughout the year including monthly happy hours, bowling nights, a Christmas party, and Casino Night.  As a professional liaison, GBMES strives to initiate changes within the BME Department by translating graduate student opinion into actions.  In addition, it publishes The Scope, a departmental newsletter, and hosts the Annual Carnegie Mellon Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology Research Symposium where graduate and undergraduate research within the BME Department is highlighted to the Carnegie Mellon and greater Pittsburgh communities

Graduate Student Assembly (GSA)
GSA is the student governmental body representing all Carnegie Mellon graduate students.  As the custodian of graduate students' activities fees, GSA oversees recognition and funding of student organizations, funds programs that benefit graduate students, and puts on social events for all graduate students.  GSA is also an advocate for graduate students at the campus, city, state, and federal levels.  GSA's mission is to improve upon the academic support and collegial activities for graduate students.

Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
The mission of SWE is to stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, to expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and to demonstrate the value of diversity.  The chapter at CMU provides support network to students pursuing a degree in engineering, allowing for aspiration, advancement, and achievement through various social and professional events that benefit students, the university, as well as the community

Technical Opportunities Conference (TOC)
The TOC attracts Carnegie Mellon's technical students and provides a way for companies to personally meet talented students interested in full time or summer internship positions. The TOC is an annual event sponsored by the Carnegie Institute of Technology and organized by the student chapter of the Society of Women Engineers.
